GENERAL QUESTIONS
Q: What is a zine?
A: A zine, or fanzine, is an independently published "magazine" that is a collection of creative work. You can think of it as an anthology centering one theme, with different creators submitting their works.Q: What is the theme of this zine?
A: This zine centers around the romantic pairing of Squall Leonhart and Rinoa Heartilly during and after the events of Final Fantasy VIII.Q: Will this zine be physical or digital?
A: The zine will be most definitely be physical with accompanying merchandise. The zine will have a digital version (eg a PDF version), but we will determine if we will have digital merchandise (eg wallpapers, emotes, icons, etc.) once interest check results are in.Q: How big will this zine be?
A: 6x9 inchesQ: How will I receive my zine?
A: Physical zines will be sent through USPS. Digital will be sent through email.Q: Will NSFW be allowed?
A: NSFW will not be allowed. This zine will be SFW.Q: Is the zine for profit or for charity?
A: This zine will be for charity and all profits generated will go to Best Friends Animal Society - an animal sanctuary that supports homeless pets, rescue groups, spay/neuter, and adoption to help furry friends find their furrever home 🤍Q: How will I know where proceeds go?
A: We hear you and understand your concern! We aim to be transparent to our pre-orderers and to our contributors. In light of recent events, we plan to release a finance spreadsheet covering production status, cost, and the zine's current financial status (eg how much is left after production). The finance sheet will be updated to match merchandise and zine production states. Contributors will have access to the finance sheet at all times as well.Because this zine operates on pre-orders, it's important that we recognize that there is a mutual relationship of trust between you, the customer, and us, the creators. We'll honor our end and do everything we can do to help you have peace of mind!

CONTRIBUTOR QUESTIONS
_Please note: this is a general FAQ for contributors who'd like to have more knowledge so that they can be better-informed if they'd like to apply as a contributor or not. If your question is not answered within this FAQ, please consult our Contributor Info Doc.Q: How old do I need to be to apply?
A: You must be at least 16 years old.Q: How will contributors get compensated?
A: Contributors will receive a digital PDF of the zine. We aim to compensate all contributors with a free physical bundle; however, that will largely depend on how pre-orders and sales go. If we cannot cover the zine's production to provide physical, full bundles for contributors, the mods will do their best to provide a discounted price for the zine and its merchandise.Q: How many contributors will be accepted?
A: At minimum, we will have a total of 20 contributors. That will be 15 artists and around 7 writers. If we have an outstanding number of interests and applicants, then we will consider expanding those numbers!Q: What contributors will you be accepting?
A: We will be accepting: page artists, merch artists, and writers.Q: What will page artists be required to do?
A: Page artists will submit an illustration in CMYK format. Usually these will be a 1-page illustration, but artists can apply to do a 2-page spread. We will provide templates that will have trim/bleed guidelines for artists.Q: What will merch artists be required to do?
A: Merch artists will be helping us design physical and/or digital merchandise (if we have a digital bundle).Q: Can I be both a page artist and a merch artist?
A: Yes!Q: Is traditional art permitted?
A: Yes! We'd love to see different mediums of artwork! But we kindly ask and advise that your work is cleanly scanned so that it'll print out nice and beautiful. Artworks should at least be 300 DPI, but we strongly recommend 600 DPI for best results when printed.Q: What will writers be required to do?
A: Writers will be responsible for writing stories. Stories are to be no longer than 2000 words.Q: Can a writer collaborate with an artist and vise versa?
A: Yes! In fact, we'd love to see that happen. We will confirm collaboration pitches and requests once contributors are confirmed, accepted, and have joined the discord server. Artists can provide small side illustrations to accompany a writer's story. Doing so is voluntary. However, the artist's main priority should be their page illustration. In other words, side-illustrations for stories are NOT a priority. We don't mean to discourage collaboration, but we do want to be clear that whilst we welcome collaboration of all sorts, artists must be able to complete their works first.Q: Can we include other characters that are not Squall and Rinoa?
A: Only if those side characters are not the main focus. The main focus should be Squall and Rinoa.Q: The zine focuses events during/after Final Fantasy VIII. Could I also do a piece that takes place during Dissidia Final Fantasy (eg, Dissidia 012, NT, OG Dissidia)?
A: While this zine emphasizes the romantic relationship between Squall and Rinoa during/after the events of Final Fantasy VIII, we will not immediately turn down ideas outside of this timeline. However, any illustration or story that takes place in any of the Dissidia games, or in any other game/universe/AU, will require to be approved by the mod team first. In other words, this will be decided on a case-by-case basis.Q: Can I submit an older piece (art or fic) for the zine?
A: Older pieces will not be allowed. Please make sure that the piece is unpublished and brand new.If you still have unanswered questions, please feel free to message us on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr. Alternatively, email us at [email protected]!
Role: Head Mod, Social Media Mod, Writer ModAbout: Hi, my name is Lima! I'm so excited to be running this dream project of mine. Squall and Rinoa are my favourite fictional ship of all time and my love for them exceeds millions!Previous Experience: While this will be my first time organising a zine, I have done the research needed to get this project going as smoothly as possible! I've also previously organised our now archived Squinoa Discord server and have been a writer for two previous zines in the Genshin Impact fandom.
Role: Head Mod, Shipping & Finance Mod, JP CommunicationsAbout: Heyo! My name is Kouri! I'm incredibly honored to be a part of this zine. I remember seeing Squinoa in middle school and adoring their relationship, with how Squall's icy barriers are melted with Rinoa's sunny personality. I can't wait to see the different works that will illustrate and depict their journey through different fan interpretations!Previous Experience: While this is my first time modding a zine project, I have a lot of experience in communication, finance/shipping, and overseeing processes due to my professional experience as a project lead and manager! I've also had the pleasure to be featured in an FFXIV Zine as an Artist.
Role: Graphics ModAbout: Henlo, I'm Xhirien, tho most call be by Xhii! I'm so thankful to be part of this project for one of my fave ships in the FF franchise. I first met Squall and Rinoa through an FMV, and it got me so interested in them that I had to find out more. I quickly fell in love with their dynamic, seeing how Squall's cold and edgy personality thawed when he met Rinoa's warm and bright character. I look forward to working with everyone on this zine to spread the Squinoa love!Previous Experience: I've been Graphics Mod for 2 Kingdom Hearts zines; Social Media Mod for 1 Kingdom Hearts zine; Lead, Graphics and Writing Mod for 1 FF7 zine ; and a Writer Contributor for 1 Naruto zine.
